We are a smallholding with rare breed pigs, sheep, chickens and ducks.
We are building a shop to sell our own produce, obviously we are only a small concern therefore will have fresh produce every few weeks with frozen most of the time. We will soon also have fruit and veg available. Orders being taken if you have something in mind.
We are also now attending the Bradford on Avon weekly market on a Thursday 8am - 1pm, meaning we will have fresh produce most of the time.
We are hosting school groups and child minding groups, in order to promote how food gets to the table and animal welfare. Contact us if you would like more information.
There are toilet and hand washing facilities on site.
There is also an under 5s play area.
Check out the "Events" page for things to do.
Now some information on how we started :
We started in September 2008 on a four acre site in Melksham Wiltshire, which consisted partly of an overgrown area with the rest of the field being farmed by the local farmer.
There was a lot of work to do to get a smallholding up and running, so before we could start bringing in the animals we had to clear the land, build paddocks, create houses and make the place secure.
Our aim is to produce good quality meat for consumption, we were fed up with tasteless products from supermarkets especially after tasting locally produced pork.
We are also helping to keep the rare breeds in existence, by them having a purpose to be alive. If we didn't raise them for consumption, they wouldn't have a purpose and the numbers would dwindle more than they already have. British Lops and Middle Whites are the rarest of our traditional pigs, we are hoping to breed both types in the near future thereby increasing the number around in the UK.
